Board of Trustees

The Village of Sister Bay
operates under the Village form of government
with an elected President and six elected
Trustees. The Board of Trustees meet once a
month on the second Tuesday of the month at the
Sister Bay Fire Station located
at 220 Mill Road. The Board of Trustees is
responsible for establishing the policies and
direction for the operation of the Village.

The Village Administrator
carries out administrative and operational
functions as assigned by the President and Board
of Trustees. These functions include providing
staff support to the President, Board of
Trustees, Plan Commission and various
committees, boards, and commissions; processing
citizen requests, complaints and questions;
human resources; insurance; planning and zoning;
budgeting; budget preparation; interdepartmental
oversight and coordination.

Zoning Administrator -

The Zoning Administrator is
the main contact person regarding all new
development proposed in the Village, from new
single-family homes, to subdivisions and
commercial developments. The Zoning
Administrator also processes all Zoning Permit
Applications, Sign Permit Applications, and
Official Map and Conditional Use Permit requests
for any new development proposals.

Finance Director/Utility

The Finance
Director/Utility Clerk maintains all the
Village’s budgetary information and data, and is
responsible for seeing that applicable financial
and accounting procedures are implemented and
followed. She also collects all payments for
utility bills.

Administration Building, 421 Maple Drive, Sister
Bay, WI 54234. There is an after-hours drop box
at the Administration Building. Mail payments

Clerk-Treasurer - Christy

The Clerk-Treasurer is
responsible for the Village’s record keeping
functions, which include, but are not limited
to: serving as clerical support staff for the
Village President and Board of Trustees and the
various boards and commissions; monitoring
Village compliance with the Wisconsin Open
Meetings and Open Records laws; administering
the election process, dog licensing, property
status verifications; processing accounts
payable and receivable as well as billings; and
implementing State law and Municipal Code
requirements.

Administrative Assistant - Janal

The Administrative Assistant
serves as the assistant to the Village
Administrator and performs a variety of clerical
and administrative tasks, including coordination
and scheduling of meetings and the use of the
Fire Station meeting rooms and the facilities at
the Sports Complex, compilation and
mailing/delivery of meeting packets, and
recording and preparation of minutes for all
official Village meetings. She also acts as the
receptionist in the Administration Office and is
responsible for website design and maintenance.

Park Supervisor - Steve

The Parks and Recreation
Department strives to enhance the quality of
life within the Village through development,
promotion, and maintenance of park and open
space lands and facility areas. The Parks staff
is also responsible for minor road patching,
right-of-way de-brushing and other street
maintenance. Maintenance services are provided
for buildings, grounds, vehicles and equipment
on a day-to-day basis throughout the year.
Residents are able to rent
or reserve various Village facilities for
special events including the Village Hall
located at 800 N. Bay Shore Drive and the
different parks.

Utility Manager -

The Village
provides water and wastewater service to
certain areas of the Village plus
Liberty Grove Sanitary District #1 and
the Town of Liberty Grove. The type of
service is dependent upon the
availability of water and sewer mains
abutting a parcel. The water system also
provides fire protection service
wherever fire hydrants are located. The
water system operates with three deep
wells coupled with above ground storage.
The wastewater system operates with a
combination of lift stations and gravity
collection all leading to a wastewater
treatment plant located on Autumn Court.

Fire Department - Chris

The Sister Bay Liberty
Grove Fire Department operates as a joint effort
between the Village of Sister Bay and the Town
of Liberty Grove. Door County provides paramedic
services to area residents while operating out
of the South Station located in Sister Bay.
Along with normal fire
fighting duties, the department provides for
cold water/ice rescue, automobile extrication,
and carbon monoxide checks for residents. The
Fire Department also conducts fire inspections
of all commercial buildings at least once a
year.

Assessor - Michael J.

The Village provides
assessor services through a contract with
Michael Walker, a
trained professional Assessor, who has served
the Village since 1977. The Village Assessor has
three major duties; to discover, list and
estimate the value of all taxable property
within the jurisdiction of the Village. To
ensure that all property is treated uniformly,
the Assessor's procedures must conform to State
laws dealing with property taxation.
Furthermore, commonly accepted appraisal
practices must be used.

The Village contracts with
the Door County Treasurer’s Office to handle all
of the real and personal property tax
collection. The County Treasurer mails the bills
and collects all payments.

Building Permits -
Independent Inspection Services - 920-854-2934
The Village has established
various building codes to regulate remodeling
and new construction, most of which require
Building Permits. The Village contracts with
Independent Inspection services located at
the Liberty Grove Town Hall, 11161 Old Stage
Road on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:30
am to 10:00 am. Independent Inspections and can
be reached at 854-2934 or by pager at
920-421-9138.
Independent Inspections
serves the public by inspecting and enforcing
building codes throughout the Village. Personnel
from that agency also assist the public in
obtaining permits, investigating complaints,
inspecting both new and existing construction
for compliance with building, plumbing,
electrical, fire and state building codes. They
also ensure that all new and existing building
construction meets Village and State Codes and
Ordinances.

Streets and Street Lighting

The Village contracts with
the Door County Highway Department to provide
snowplowing services for all public streets in
the Village. The plowing is done in accordance
with the standards and policies established by
the County. The Village Park and Recreation
employees remove snow from Village sidewalks and
do minor street patching on an as needed basis.

commercial garbage and recycling collection.

Sister Bay Marina - Steve

The Village operates a
seasonal marina located at 817 North Bay Shore
Drive. The marina includes seasonal and
transient slips. The marina is open starting in
May of each year and closes the third week of
October. During the balance of the year,
questions regarding seasonal slip rentals and
other issues should be directed to Christy Sully
