MARINA FEST IN AN ANNUAL FUN-FILLED EVENT AT THE SISTER BAY MARINA!!!
Marina Fest is an annual event which is conducted at the Sister Bay Marina grounds on the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend. The “All-You-Can-Eat Great American Pancake Show & Breakfast” takes place at 8:00 A.M., and a variety of foods, including brats, hamburgers, corn-on-the cob, popcorn, nachos, ice cream and whitefish sandwiches are served throughout the day. Beverages of all sorts are also sold by various service organizations from throughout the community. Music can continuously be heard all around the Marina grounds from the big tent to the docks. A giant used book sale is sponsored by the Sister Bay-Liberty Grove Library, and there also is a classic wooden boat show, a classic “woodie” car display, horse and wagon rides, and Coast Guard displays. Special features include children’s boat building sessions, as well as an afternoon performance by the Waterboard Warriors, a prize-winning water ski show. At dusk lighted and decorated boats in the Marina compete for prizes, and a spectacular fireworks display takes place at 8:30 P.M., followed by more music and a dance. Raffle tickets are on sale all day, and the grand prize drawing takes place at 8:00 P.M. A very popular attraction at Marina Fest is the Viking Ship, which was recently acquired by the Village from the Sons of Norway. The Viking Ship has been a staple at many parades and festivals throughout Door County for a number of years, it is frequently photographed, and proudly represents the Norwegian heritage of many Door County residents.
