Peninsula School of Art Presents “The Searching Eye” Exhibition

The Peninsula School of Art (PenArt) is proud to present The
Searching Eye, a new exhibition curated by Shan Bryan-Hanson that honors the
school’s 60-year legacy of supporting creative exploration and access to art in Door
County.

An artist’s eye—metaphorically or literally—is always searching. Since 1965, PenArt has
provided space for that search, beginning with founder Madeline Tourtelot and growing
into a vibrant community of artists across generations.

The Searching Eye features artists connected to PenArt as instructors, residents,
students, and more. Through their practices, they reflect Tourtelot’s vision: one rooted in
experimentation, personal expression, and enduring curiosity. The exhibition’s title is
inspired by Tourtelot’s 1960 film Searching Eye, which will be screened as part of the
exhibition.
